Natural touch

Between feathers and skin, is the contact natural? Is it the sign of a world striving to preserve its avifauna and its environment from destruction, or the harbinger of a more egalitarian relationship between species? “…beyond sight, the eye can summon the tactile—or more precisely the haptic—which designates both touch and the forces that unfold within it.” (Héloïse Conséna). The thin zone of sharpness dissolves boundaries: the image emerges shape where grains of silver, photons and atoms heat up and exchange.

« Natural » is a project that began in 2023 at the Domaine d’Abbadia, a protected natural reserve managed by the Conservatoire du littoral. Through various analog photography techniques, the artist deconstructs our representations, reveals the physical processes that shape our vision and questions our definition of the "nature."

The images then become bridges for exploring the connections of the living, the human-nature relationships, and the permeabilities between the interior of the protected reserve and the outside.

(This project comes from "Proximité-s", artist residency with writer Aliona Gloukhova, part of the Mondes Nouveaux program in partnership with the Conservatoire du littoral.)
