The Vertigo of Time | Phyllis Dooney

With her new long-term project, “The Vertigo of Time”, Phyllis Dooney brings us into the lives of the descendants from Historic Stagville’s enslaved population in Durham, North Carolina. Helen Hart marched for civil rights. Kai Banx is an LGBTQ CNA. Ed Brown and Perrist Hodges are Vietnam veterans. William Amey owned a funeral home and flower shop that serviced Black Wall Street for decades. The project questions historic national narratives and connects the descendants to the wellspring of American culture.
