Senegalese artists seize the spotlight | Carmen Abd Ali

For W Magazine , photographer Carmen Abd Ali captured some of the Senegalese artists whose works and how-to were exhibited at La Galerie du 19M, the Chanel gallery installed for almost 3 months in the walls of the Institut fondamental d'Afrique noire, in Dakar, Senegal. Heritage, craft, and innovation are at the heart of Senegal’s thriving creative scene. A new cultural space from Chanel aims to shine a spotlight the country’s wealth of talent. The pictures were published alongside a written piece by Siddhartha Mitter.
