On Photography in Fleury Mérogis | Inland
Inland Director Ariane Kovalevsky, photographers Jef Bonifacino and Mélanie Wenger, and podcast journalist Brigitte Patient collaborated on a mediation workshop on photography at Fleury Mérogis prison in the suburbs of Paris as part of the '114' project. The project aimed to question the representation of inmates through a collective experimentation with photography. Over the course of two weeks, the photographers worked with the inmates to create portraits, selfies, and still life photographs. Brigitte Patient recorded and interviewed the participants to explore their relationship with photography. They were involved in all steps of the process, including editing and curation led by Ariane Kovalevsky. The project was showcased as an installation at Fleury Merogis prison on Wednesday, March 29 and will be part of the #114 Installation in 2024.
