New story on Russian exodus | Patrick Wack

Patrick Wack is now permanently based in Moscow (Russia) and has been working on a project on the new Russian exodus.

Tens of thousands of Russians have left their country since the start of the invasion of Ukraine on 24th February, up to 300,000 by some estimates. Some made their decision hastily, in a matter of hours, fearing closed borders and heightened repression, but many others are currently preparing more cautiously for long-term emigration. This series of interview-based anonymous portraits tells of their fears and hopes, their anguish about leaving a country they love but they feel has been taken away from them.
