Documenting the Amazon of Europe, with support of the Journalism Fund | Mélanie Wenger, Matjaž Tančič
For the past two years, photographers Mélanie Wenger and Matjaž Tančič have been investigating the challenges of the Amazon of Europe. The UNESCO-recognized the Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve spans 300,000 hectares across five countries. This project offers intersecting perspectives on the relationship between local people and the river, as well as the efforts of scientists and biologists striving to protect this unique ecosystem, threatened by hydropower plants, sand mining, pollution, and climate change.
A cross-border investigation with writer Vedrana Simičević supported by the Journalism Fund, published in Slovenian newspaper Delo and Croatian newspaper Jutarnji.
