From June 1st to July 13th 2023, Jef Bonifacino will be in residence at the Cité de l'Espace for his project entitled Unseen Apollo.
He wishes to show the lunar exploration from a subjective rereading of the Hasselblad photographs from the Apollo missions in order to propose a new narrative without chronological reference points. In his initial collection of NASA archives, the photographer favors photographs considered anecdotal, technical, with flare, negative borders, poorly framed or exposed, but which possess an unexploited suggestive power or a capacity for wonder.
"The original purpose of these silver photographs taken by astronauts was primarily scientific and political. It is time to bring them to express their photographic and artistic potential in order to renew our representations of lunar exploration."
