Grand Prize Award & Exhibition at OKO Bohinj Fotofestival, Lake Bohinj, Slovenia | Alex Kemman

Inland photographer Alex Kemman is the Grand Prize winner of the OKO Bohinj Photo Festival and will present his solo exhibition “Ecocorridors & the European Green Deal”, opening on October 16 and running until October 19.

His project, “Green Veins of Europe”, visualizes the hidden routes and corridors that animals use to move across the continent. Alex traveled through the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland to document diverse forms of green infrastructure connecting fragmented landscapes. In an era of shifting precipitation patterns and increasing climate challenges, enabling animal mobility is essential to maintain ecological balance and resilience.

The OKO Bohinj Photo Festival takes place in the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park, bringing together documentary photography with themes of nature conservation and sustainability. The festival highlights the complex relationship between humans and nature, the impact on ecosystems, and the transformation of landscapes over time.

Through his work, Alex contributes to this vital dialogue on ecology and coexistence, showing how photography can deepen our understanding of the fragile connections that sustain life across Europe.
