Women fighting for their rights in Sierra Leone | Carmen Abd Ali

 

For Der Spiegel, Carmen Yasmine Abd Ali went to Sierra Leone with women fighting for lands in a country where daughters get nothing as it's usually the first-born son who inherits. Sierra Leone has started to pass several new laws by last year that are intended to revolutionize old realities and which state very clearly: women must not be discriminated against in any way, they must be involved in all decisions relating to land issues and have the same rights as men.
