Inland photographer Tim Franco shot a portrait for the French newspaper Libération of Kim Il-hyuk, a North Korean defector.

The interview was conducted by Arthur Laffargue, correspondent in Seoul. Kim, who escaped in 2023, shares his experience of life in North Korea during the Covid-19 pandemic, offering a rare view inside the secretive state.
