Inside the rural LGBT center set up by India's gay prince | Matjaz Tancic
Photographer Matjaz Tancic met India's Manvendra Singh Gohil, the first 'out' gay prince in the world in Mumbai. He documented his story and spent time at his center. The prince came out in 2006. Having gone through a marriage to a princess, and being pushed towards 'therapy' to 'cure' him, he now openly fights for LGBT rights in his country, and recently turned his palace grounds in rural Gujarat, his home state, into a support centre. Now LGBT people travel there from across the country and many locals make secret trips there to find support they can't get in their own conservative rural communities. Photos and text available to be published.
