"Building Trouble", a cross-investigation on the roles of Eurasian beavers | Matjaž Tančič
In April, a new story by photographer Matjaž Tančič on Europe’s most unexpected climate engineers - beavers - was published in Sobotna priloga in Slovenia and on N1 in Croatia.
Developed in collaboration with Croatian journalist Andrea Milat, the project follows the animals across Slovenia and Croatia, documenting their return and the complex realities of coexistence; from biodiversity gains to tensions with local communities. The story examines beavers as a form of low-cost climate adaptation, reshaping rivers and landscapes while raising broader questions about how society lives with nature.
