Inland in Arles
The entire Inland team has been impatient to be in Arles for the opening week of the Rencontres de la Photographie. After two years of remote meetings, our in-person reunion had a very special taste with all our photographers gathered together for the first time since the launch of the collective. Hugs, emotional speeches, exchanges of prints, long evenings and foggy morning coffees were numerous!
Further to a lovely opening night for our group exhibition MYTH/s, we were happy to host two talks about long-form documentary photography. We started In the morning with one in French, moderated by Brigitte Patient, bringing together Emmanuelle Hascoet, Head of Contemporary Photography at the BNF, Aurélie de Lanlay, Deputy Director of the Rencontres d'Arles, François-Nicolas L'Hardy, Programmer at the Hôtel Fontfreyde, Martina Bacigalupo, Editor-in-Chief of 6 Months, Jean-Matthieu Gautier, Editor-in-Chief of EPIC magazine and Mélanie Wenger, co-founder of Inland.
Followed by another one in English in the afternoon that was just as exciting: it opened a conversation about the collective adventure in photography. Moderated by Marc Prüst, we had the pleasure to host numerous panelists including Stephane Lagoutte from MYOP, Laëtitia Ganaye from MAPS, Glaucia Nogueira from Iande, Ilvy Njiokiktjien and Ron Haviv from VII as well as Patrick Wack from Inland.
In addition to these strong interactions with the public, our photographers participated each day in the Inland Lab, our working space open to the public. These meetings were an opportunity for us to take a look at our respective projects, to plan the next year as well as possible, and to propose some portfolio reviews to younger photographers.
We would like to thank once again the Aire for its warm welcome, and our partners Initial Labo, Schoenheitz wines and Propaganda Studio for their support and presence during this exciting week filled with events.
