"Anatomy of the Flow" exhibited at Panovci 9, Slovenia | Matjaž Tančič

“Anatomy of the Flow”, the latest project by photographer Matjaž Tančič, is now on view until the 12th of September 2025 at Panovci 9 in Slovenia’s Goričko biosphere reserve. The exhibition blends art and environment through site-specific installations, with works displayed outdoors and inside a former farmhouse to highlight the unique character of the region.

The opening of the exhibition in Goričko featured a live performance by Edna, a local ensemble fusing traditional and jazz influences, setting the tone for a dialogue between past and present, community and creativity.

In “Anatomy of the Flow”, Tančič follows the Mura, Drava, and Danube rivers across five countries, reframing them as witnesses to histories of conflict, resilience, and transformation. Through photography and long-form reporting, he explores the tensions between progress and preservation, and between human control and ecological surrender.

The project is part of Inland’s first collective project “Thrutopia,” which is currently on display at the Fondation Manuel Rivera-Ortiz in Arles until the close of the festival on October 5.
