French Guiana facing COVID for Le Figaro Magazine | Mélanie Wenger
On assignment during the peak of the pandemic in the Amazon, photographer Mélanie Wenger documented the situation in French Guiana for Le Figaro Magazine. As Bresil has the 2nd higher number of cases in the world, Guiana saw the wave come up and was finally hit. With very limited access, and assisted by french 'Réserve sanitaire' come from the metropolis, the health workers and the army are trying to deal with almost 8000 cases in the native american and Ndjuka communities both at the border with Bresil and Suriname.
