Commemoration of the Pexonne roundup | Mathias Zwick
For French weekly L'Obs, Mathias Zwick covered in Pexonne (France), the commemoration of the tragic WWII roundup during which on August 27, 1944, the SS officer Erich Wenger ordered the deportation of 112 civilian hostages. Only 15 made it back alive. Seventy-nine years later, three of his grandchildren attended the commemoration of the tragedy alongside descendants of the victims. Mathias portrayed them and documented this day of remembrance alongside journalist Alice Ferber.
