'Azov Horizons' exhibition at La Commanderie Sainte Luce, Arles | Patrick Wack

Patrick Wack's presenting his exhibition in the temporary UPP Maison des photograpahes, in la cour de la commanderie Sainte Luce in Arles, during Les Rencontres Photographiques d'Arles festival, 2024.

From July 1 to 5, the Union of Professional Photographers relocated the "Maison des Photographes" to an exceptional venue : the Cour de la Commanderie Sainte Luce. It was in this special location that Patrick Wack presented an exhibition of his series "Azov Horizons".

Patrick also led a presentation about his work and long-term photography on Tuesday, July 2, at 5 PM.

"Azov Horizons" is a long-term photographic project exploring the territories around the Sea of Azov, a little-known but highly strategic northern extension of the Black Sea. Started in 2019, this series explores the coasts of this disputed sea.. On either side of a front line whose images of muddy trenches are reminiscent of the First World War, these uncluttered horizons bathed in soft light act as metaphors for loss as much as for hope, and the nostalgic gaze of two peoples once indivisible, now tangled in a fratricidal conflict.
