In late 2025, photographer Alex Kemman followed the Comuneros del Sur, an offshoot of the National Liberation Army (ELN). In the misty mountains of Nariño 6 armed groups are active. The Comuneros aim to legalise goldmining to create sustainable peace, with elections coming up this is one of the last chances for a successful peace process in Colombia. Working alongside journalist Bram Ebus, Alex Kemman documented the evolving peace process and examined how the formal legalization of illicit gold mining could influence prospects for stability.
